Watching John Carpenter's The Thing with some friends tonight. Can you help me come up with a cocktail for it?
Last time to hang out with a friend before his baby is born, and I wanted to make it fun by pairing our movie with an appropriate cocktail or alcohol. I thought of Yukon Jack as a start, but if y'all can come up with something more creative, I'm in!

Best answer: Bloody Marys in little petri dishes.

Bloody Marys in little petri dishes
Garlic and Shots in London has an awesome shotglass drink which is like a condensed bloody mary with garlic and chili - it'd be awesome and appropriate, but I'm not finding a recipe online so you might have to experiment a little to find the exact mix.

Best answer: MacReady drinks J&B at both the beginning (when he pours it into the computer) and in the last scene.

Get dry ice and drop it into drinks and/or a punch bowl. Bonus if there are floating, unidentifiable chunks of fruit.

Float 151 on one of them and test them one by one with a kitchen torch?
Other than that, yeah J&B.

Response by poster: Somehow I forgot completely about the J&B connection. Though my head already hurts thinking about it.
I love the petri mary idea. Maybe with aquavit, tip o' the hat to the Norwegians.
The Brain Hemorrhage is the most disgusting visual spectacle I have seen in a long time. Well done.

Response by poster: Better yet, just one of the Petri dishes is a Negroni. Now that'd be a surprise! (If only I could get it to jump violently.
Mmm, Campari.

There're a few joints consumed as well, if your crew is into smoking out.
