Simple Netflix streaming device for Canada?

I would like to buy my parents a device to stream Netflix movies to their TV. Roku doesn't work in Canada yet and the gaming consoles are overkill so it seems the best option is Apple TV. Is there something else I should be considering?

Current infrastructure includes a new plasma TV, Sony Blu-ray, Denon AVR, Harmony remote, wireless n network, one PC, and one Mac (which mostly runs Bootcamp).

Simplicity is the key desired feature.

Shame they got a Sony Blu-ray. The Samsung ones come with Netflix built in. Perhaps they can trade.

Response by poster: That's an interesting suggestion. We could find another home for the Sony Blu-ray and replace it with a Samsung. Anyone have an opinion on the Samsung interface vs. Apple TV?

So be careful here. There's nothing about the Roku that is explicitly precluding it from working. Netflix.ca seems to be limiting devices and my quick Google Fu isn't finding much on what they're supporting yet and the netflix.ca domain just keeps redirecting me.

Netflix's interface tends to be the same across most devices they've tried to provide a consistent experience as much as possible. That being said, AppleTV And Roku boxes seem to have the most advanced interfaces.

Samsung's Blu-Ray platform has a bit more available with regards to service providers and apps. AppleTV (right now) is mostly must iTunes and Netflix.

I have a Sony Blu-Ray player that streams Netflix. You might double check to be sure that theirs doesn't before you do anything else.

Careful with the Samsungs. We bought a Home Theatre system that was billed as Netflix-compatible, but once we got it home we found out it was only compatible in the states. That doesn't preclude a future firmware update, but we're still waiting.

Right now the AppleTV is your go-to device in Canada if you're not using a gaming machine.

No Netflix support yet (maybe by the end of the year).
