Lost kindle

Lost my Kindle. 1. If I deregister, will it wipe my contact info as well, so that if anyone does find it and wants to return it to me, they'll be unable to? 2. Will I be unable to reregister the Kindle if I find it? 3. Anything else I can/should do?
If you deregister and then connect to Wifi it will wipe everythiing on it. Though sometimes it sticks and you have to do a hard reset on the unit itself.
2. You can reregister it if you find it again.

If someone finds it, they can contact Amazon to get it back to you. If you de-register, you can re-register when it gets back to you. Process will likely require contacting Amazon support.

If you tell customer service you lost your kindle, they will blacklist it, which disables the 3G/wifi so it can't be used with any other account, and deregister it. You can deregister it yourself, but if you call customer service afterwards, it won't be associated with your account any more, so they will have to hunt through your orders to find your kindle's serial number, which will take longer.
