Spoilers for The Tricking of Freya, please

I am reading The Tricking of Freya for a book group that meets tonight. It's not really my kind of thing, and not only am I not going to have time to finish it, I'm not very interested in finishing it. So, for the sake of my participation in tonight's group: what happens when Birdie takes Freya to Iceland, and what is the surprise twist near the end that every review/synopsis I've read mentions but won't reveal?

Response by poster: Never mind, I figured out the so-called "twist" without even bothering to read the book, just from thinking about it a bit and putting together hints from on-line reviews.
