Networked Scorched Earth?

I loved Scorched Earth. I want a networked version of Scorch for Windows. I think Scorched 3d is nearly unplayable as-is, though I love the concept. I want something like xscorch but for Windows. Something like Pocket Tanks, but networked. Any ideas?

Response by poster: Oh, and I tried "Worms: World Party", which was supposed to be a networked scorch-type thing, but it was so buggy the install wouldn't complete. This from an off-the-shelf store box!

One of my old high school friends at Georgia Tech had to create a networked version of the originial Scorched Earth for his CS class. I can check to see if he has a copy laying around somewhere...
Oh, and Worms is damn fun! I never played the network versiom, just hot-seat though. Helluva lot of entertainment if you can get it to work though!

Not quite the same idea, but similar, networked, and just as fun: BZFlag.

the originial Scorched Earth

Argh. The "original" Scorched Earth is just a remake and mild upgrade (and in some ways downgrade) of Tank Wars 3.2 by Kenny Morse.

I've played several versions of worms multiplayer, including WWP, and never had problems with bugs, so perhaps something else is going on there. This is in fact the game that I have to recommend in this thread. Did you look at the WWP support forums, where some possibly related problems are discussed?

Response by poster: At the time I did consult the WWP support forums, fruitlessly. That was a while ago.

Re: Scorch 3d, it gets a lot better if you up the resolution and make it full screen. It still needs work, but I'm upgrading it from "Unplayable" to "Pretty Fun".

I will definitely try BZFlag, and maybe Worms2.

If you have friends outside the game so you can ignore the lobby and all the customization parts that encourage you to pay, Gunbound can be fun.

Best answer: You don't mention it, but I take it you tried Scorch 2000 and didn't like it? It's the most faithful of SE remakes and has network support. Surely you didn't overlook this excellent piece of software, did you?
