Kauai to Pearl Harbor?

My co-worker is on Kauai for a week. However, he wants to see Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona memorial, etc. What is the easiest way for this to happen?
His flight goes to Maui, then Kauai, thereby skipping Oahu. He is pretty much a self-identified redneck, therefore Pearl Harbor is at the top of a short list of things that he wants to see on the islands. (Going there for his daughter's wedding.)
Is there currently any water transportation between Kauai and Oahu? Or would he need to fly over there, then take a bus or taxi?

There are roughly hourly flights on Hawaiian Airlines. Takes about 30 minutes. $140+ for a round trip.
There was a ferry between Maui and Oahu but it was shut down. For Kauia to Oahu, you're talking about roughly 100 miles over open ocean, so that's not an easy ferry route.

I visited the Pearl Harbor memorial 2 years ago - it's worth the trip, but your coworker should ensure that he has enough time to see the exhibit. If he can get there early enough for the first few departure times (the first one is at 8), he should be fine, but the tours fill very quickly and on my visit, we arrived at 9:30 and did not get a seat on the tour until 11:15. I hear this is highly variable depending on the time of year.

The city bus service goes to Pearl Harbor, so getting there from the airport shouldn't be much of a problem. IIRC, it was about a 45 minute bus ride from Waikiki, so probably less from the airport, unless he has to backtrack to catch the correct bus.

nthing the idea that you need to get there early to ensure a timely entrance to the film/boat trip to the memorial. Much like muddgirl, we arrived around 9:30 and our entrance time was such that we had enough time to kill to go back to Waikiki for brunch.
Oh and the film and visit to the memorial was educational, interesting and emotionally powerful...well worth the time invested.

The only way to get from Kauai to Oahu is by air. Ideally your coworker would book an early flight out from Kauai, and a late return flight from Oahu. I don't know how strict the airlines are for inter-island flights, but he might have to be at the airport at least an hour or two before departure.
Pearl Harbor is extremely close to the airport. By bus, he'll want the #20 or #42 west-bound, and it's $2.50 each way. However, looking at the route timetable it seems both lines only pick up/drop off at the memorial between 7am and 3pm.
Note that the USS Arizona Memorial and Battleship Missouri Memorial are two separate tours. The Arizona tour is free, but it's organized by groups so he'll need to visit the on-site ticket office. Looks like tickets for the Missouri tour can be purchased online; otherwise he can buy at the same on-site ticket office. Both memorials ferry people from the visitors center across the water to the ships themselves, so he'll want to account for that if he intends to see the Missouri before the Arizona.
Also, I assume your co-worker intends for this to be a one-day thing and will limit his carry-on? The park will not allow bags of any kind (including camera bags and fanny packs); he'll have to store them outside the entrance for a few dollars per bag. The URLs above will have other info on restrictions.
