How to turn off VPN?

How do I get a VPN (hotspotshield) to "turn off" so I can use the internet normally? Is it possible?
I downloaded hotspotshield for free so I can access certain websites that are blocked in China (where I live). However now I am unable to access a Chinese website (possibly more than one, haven't tried). I was able to yesterday, when I first downloaded hotspotshield, but today when I go to the Chinese website it says, "502 Bad Gateway". (I can access it on another computer.
Is there a way to *not* use the VPN when I don't want to? Thanks in advance.
PS- I don't know a lot of technological/computer terms so you'd probably have to explain things very simply.

Response by poster: thanks....but can you tell me what to do after pressing Crtl+Alt+Delete? Because I did that, got a bunch of options, and wasn't sure which to choose. And when I opened the browser again the VPN was still operating.

Once you hit ctrl+alt+del and have opened the Task Manager you should see a list of Applications (or one of the tabs should have it). Select Anchor Free and end the task.

While we're on the subject of VPN's, is it normal that I cannot post comments on Facebook while using the VPN?
Also, why would I be unable to access Chinese websites using it?
Are these things the result of the VPN itself or something to do with Chinese government censors?

China would prefer that you refrain from using a VPN. It's for your own good. In the future, please contact a Chinese government official (or perhaps someone from Siemens or Cisco) to learn what thoughts are good, and what thoughts are bad.
