Getting Photos Into Photos, Not

Help me get my pictures off my computer and onto my iPad permanently.

iPad photos is one of the worst apps I have run into. I have been trying to export my pictures onto my iPad from Lightroom on my Mac with very little success. Somehow I have to get it to recognize the albums on my computer which it doesn't want to do. I've tried following the suggestions on the Lightroom blogs without any success. If I just try to download them without an album all my pictures get deleted the next time I try to sync the iPad. It shouldn't be this hard, what am I doing wrong?

You need to either export your photos into iphoto, or into a folder. From there you can use itunes to set your ipad options to synch to that specific folder (or iphoto album)

Are you using Lightroom 3? If you are, the new publish feature should do the trick for you. I know you said you checked the blogs, but here is a pretty thorough tutorial about how to set it up. The guide is for Lightroom on Windows, but I do the same thing on my Mac and it works perfectly.

The nice thing about publish vs. a regular export is that any changes you make to the published photos in Lightroom will be automatically synced with your iPad when you plug it in.

If you're using Lightroom 1 or 2, then your best option is using export as travis08 suggested above.

Response by poster: Two comments. I use Lightroom because i dislike iPhoto intensely. I tried the publish service but it hasn't worked. The automatic sync can't find the albums. I don't know how to fix it.
