What's Wolfsburg like?

Germany filter: what's it like to live in Wolfsburg?

I have a tentative job offer to work at VW in Wolfsburg, starting asap. I am currently in Berlin where I have lived for years. I have been looking to get out of Berlin to go somewhere less übertrendy and ugly and more green but was thinking of Hamburg, which I love, or Bavaria. Does anyone here have any experience of living in Wolfsburg or even visiting? I would specially like to know:

- whether it has a "real" town feeling (I know its history) or whether people who come to work at VW just treat it like a domitory town and desert it at weekend
- if there is anything much going on at night of a guitary or dancy nature
- er "what the people are like" in terms of conservatism, friendliness, openness, demographics
- how convenient it is to get out to the Harz and whether there are anything resembling hilly scenery nearby or if its all forest and fields.

Would be massively greatful for any opinions!

I was going to link to the thread in toytown about Wolfsburg... but I think that's you?

Sorry, I've only been in the train station there. I remember it being nice enough. Is there any way you can visit for the weekend? It shouldn't be that far from Berlin.
