iPod ShuffleFilter - can I charge my shuffle on a computer without iTunes? I'd like to leave it to charge on my work computer while out for lunch, but despite my Google Fu cannot find out if this is ok for the device.

Yes. Just plug it in.

FYI, you might have to plug it directly into your computer (not the keyboard): The front LED should be orange if it's charging (or green if it's fully charged). If it's not charging (such is the case if it's connected to a low-power USB port on a keyboard), you won't see a front LED. - Apple

Since it's marketed as both a MP3 player and as a portable USB hard drive, plugging it into an iTunesless computer should be fine.

It will be OK as long as the USB socket provides enough power - older ones don't
