How do you get to Iqaluit?

This summer, I'd like to travel to Iqaluit, the capitol of Nunavut in Canada. I've been fascinated with the place for years, and this spring would be the perfect chance to go see it. What's the best way of getting there?
(I blame CBC Iqaluit, of which I've been listening to at work for quite a while now.)
I'm starting my journey from Seattle, but I'll also be travelling around Canada by VIA Rail on a month long pass. So, I'd be able to depart from any part of Canada, as long as it's accessible via VIA Rail. I'd be doing this in either May or June.
I tried looking at various airline sites, but either the schedules and fares aren't online, or they look like cargo planes only. What are my best options? Thanks!

A quick jaunt over to the Nunavut Tourism website reveals that both Canadian North and First Air serve Iqualuit, nonstop from Ottawa.

As a resident of Inuvik, I would recommend that town over Iqaluit. It would be a more direct trip for you, flights go north from Edmonton quite often. Honestly though, it makes me so happy to hear that anyone is interested in going anywhere up north! It cracks me up that you get CBC Iqaluit in Seattle.

If Iqaluit turns out to be unaffordable, you might consider a visit to Churchill, Manitoba. Not the same thing, I know, but it is accessible by train.

I don't know about Iqaluit, but when I went partway up the Dalton Highway the mosquitoes were as big as birds, and bloodthirsty.

The First Air site also has a list of travel agents that may be able to help.
Be aware it's not cheap to go north; most people who go are on government or mining business, and they're prepared to pay high prices.
