iTunes DJ + iPhone Remote weirdness

Can anyone explain a seeming inconsistency in the iPhone remote app for controlling iTunes? And ideally provide a work-around. Under certain conditions, iTunes DJ is stopping mid-track and other music starts when it really shouldn't.

I've been asked to manage the music at friend's going-away party. Given that I plan to partake in the party, I'm gonna run iTunes DJ on a headless Mac Mini and control it from the iPhone remote app. I've been trying this out to make sure there are no gotchas. Unfortunately there are.

Steps to reproduce are as follows:
1. Start Remote App
2. Select iTunes DJ playlist
3. Start iTunes DJ playlist
4. Scroll to the top and hit the "Add" button
5. Pick a song, tap it and it greys out indicating it has been added.
5. Tap "Done"
6. Scroll to the bottom to your recently added song and tap on it.
7. Hit "Play Next" to move it to the top of the queue.

At this point, either

A) It will behave correctly

or

B) It will start playing some random song not even in the DJ playlist

Outcome (B) AKA the wrong one, seems to happen if I go through the above steps pretty quickly. In particular, after step 6 where the song title is shown followed by "Play Now" and "Play Next" buttons, there should be a list of genius-recommended related songs. Sometimes this list is not populated. If the list has not been populated at 6, then step 7 is pretty much guaranteed to exhibit incorrect behaviour. If I go back out to iTunes DJ and then click the song again, the list will be populated.

Has anyone come across this or other remote app mis-features that might cause random cutting-off of the playlist and if so, are there any guaranteed work arounds or KB articles etc.?

Are you shaking the phone, when this happens? Sometimes there is a shuffle-when-shaken preference enabled that causes a random track to be picked and played.

Response by poster: Nope, the iPhone isn't even in my hand. It's sitting immobile on my desk, so I don't think shake to shuffle has anything to do with it.

I have a strange issue where occasionally a song will finish, but there is no audio from the next song. When I manually slide the timer back to the start of the song, I hear the audio again. I haven't seen the bug you're describing though, sorry.
