Help me help myself rock out

I recently purchased a left handed acoustic guitar (i'm a lefty). Apart from the Old Town School of Folk Music, where in Chicago can I learn to play it?
I want to learn all my favorite Nirvana songs and so far, I've been using YouTube tutorials with limited success. I've looked into the Old Town School of Folk and am considering taking classes there soon, but I'd like to know what my other options are before I register.

(Can't help on Chicago, but learning as a lefty with a righty teacher can often work out easier, as it's like watching yourself in a mirror.)

I heartily recommend the Old Town School of Folk Music - I've learned to play acoustic guitar through their core guitar curriculum.
One thing to note - they have several instructors that teach the guitar courses, especially at the lower levels. Each instructor will teach the same concepts and chords, but they will use different songs to accomplish that goal. You might look into who is teaching and finding out what types of songs they will be using.

I don't know anything about Chicago, and cannot help with that part of your question.
But as a left-handed guitarist, formerly full-time, and also as a former guitar teacher, I can assure you the fact that you are left-handed makes no difference. You don't need to worry about finding a lefty teacher, or one who can "teach lefty." It's a nonissue.

I have a friend in Hyde Park (music grad student / aspiring rocker) who tutors guitar for pretty reasonable rates. If you're interested, memail me and I'll get you in touch.

If you're in or around Rogers Park, Flatts and Sharpe music store offers lessons.
