How was the My Name is Earl season four cliffhanger finale supposed to be resolved?

Greg Garcia (who created the Camden County crew) said when it was axed that they were hoping to be picked up by another network.

I suspect they kept the cliffhanger ending a secret, hoping they would have a chance to resolve it in the never-to-eventuate series 5 on another network.

There's no "oh, SNAP" revelation that I could ever find.
