Building flats for a music video

Building flats for a music video. Please tell me how to construct (and what kind of materials to buy), to construct some flats to make some fake walls for a music video. (more inside)

I would like to get them as tall as possible. Ten feet or so, 12 would be ideal. What kind of wood do I buy, and in what size do I make them. How much is the material cost of one flat? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

styrofoam board backed with 1x2 strips would be cheap and easy to paint. how big a wall do you need, and does it need to support anything? Is this a 3-walled room setup, or just one wall?

Flat Building 101

This Wikipedia page is also useful.

It comes down to whether you want hard or soft flats. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.
