Can this Motorola remote control an LG tv?

How do I program the remote for a Motorola DCT700 cable box to power on and control the volume for a new LG 32" tv?

This is my first experience with an HD tv, I've always had CRTs. It always seemed with the older sets that the remote just worked. With this one? Not so much. The tv is for my 87 father-in-law who is no master of technology, and I'd hate to have him fumble with multiple remotes.

There are two Motorola remotes for the DCT700, the older DCR450 which has a square bottom and the newer DCR800 which has a round bottom. User manuals are here and here. There are multiple codes listed for LG TV's and you may have to try them all to find the right one. Write the codes down somewhere as the settings will probably be lost when you change the batteries in the remote.

Response by poster: Actually, based on your answer, I Googled around and discovered that it's the Comcast Custom DVR 3-Device Universal Remote Control. Thanks for the inspiration!
