Where to live in Dublin 1?

Dublin-Filter: What parts of Dublin 1 are safe and quiet? I live in Dublin now but a move is impending.
I have lived in Dublin for almost two years and work in Merrion Street. If possible I want to take on the law course at Kings Inns in Henrietta Street. Dublin's public transport being what it is, this will be practicable only if I can live in the area. Can anyone give me any clues about good bits of Dublin 1, particularly the area between Henry Street and Parnell Street? By "good" I mean, in particular, quiet. That's "quiet" in all respects--traffic noise, pubs, drunks in the street, the whole works. Safe would also be good. Not too expensive would be good too, but I realise this is Dublin. In case it isn't already obvious, a lively social scene is not an issue. Thanks in advance.

You don't have to live right in the exact area - Kings Inns is walking distance (< 30 mins) from much of Dublin 7, and even across the river in Dublin 8 isn't too far.

Best answer: A friend lives on the Quays and says it very quiet and safe, on Ellis Quay again that's in Dublin 7.

This is the apartment block I lived in.
Smithfield is not too far away either, and it is on the Luas Line.
