Recommendations for a visually-pleasing, uncluttered start page that will give me a good summary of the day's current events? Not looking for stuff like Netvibes or iGoogle. I don't want to futz around with adding my own RSS feeds. I don't need games or weather modules. The ability to customize is not desired.

I like Popurls or AllTop.

While I realize you aren't looking for iGoogle, you should consider it. Once it's set up, you never have to futz with it again.

I have my page split into three columns:
- Local News
- National News
- World News

I set it up two years ago and haven't had to mess with it since.

Google News? That's what I've used for years as a start page, both on my laptop and my mobile phone.

What MsKim said.

I came to this thread to see if anyone can recommend anything better than these two sites.
