How to make the most of Brighton Festival and Fringe?

I'm living in Brighton during May for the first time ever and really want to check out some theatre, music, art and comedy but am overwhelmed the the range on offer - how to find some events I'd enjoy?

Chortle has pretty comprehensive coverage of British comedy. Scroll to the bottom of their page for Brighton Festival reviews.

Try the New Act Night on Wednesday 19th - 13 different acts for £7. One of which may or may not be me.

Personally I just make my way through the listings, open everything that looks interesting in a tab, then read the further details of each and pick a certain number. It takes ages and it's boring but it works well, I've discovered a lot of interesting stuff. Always try out little new things.
