Where to get a tat in Des Moines?

What is the best tattoo shop in Des Moines?

My sister is graduating from college and is interested in getting a tattoo. I'd like to provide the impetus for her to go ahead and go through with it in the form of a grad present :a gift certificate to a tattoo parlor in Des Moines, where she went to school and will continue to live.

If it matters, she wants to get a small image of an orangutan, perhaps a silhouette.

Has anybody had a great experience getting inked in Des Moines? I would also be interested in being warned off of a particular place, if that's what your experience compels you to do.

Best answer: I am not an illustrated man, but many good friends of mine are. One of them has 250+ hours of ink on his body and he goes to Mid Air & Ink on 4th St., along with most everyone else I know who gets tattooed. Everybody there is extremely hard working and they do some quality ink. Maybe give them a shot.

I also have a friend getting some work done at Pink Elephant on Ingersoll, and the work he's having done there is pretty solid as well.

Response by poster: Got her a gift certificate the Mid Air. Seems like a reputable place. She hasn't gotten the tat yet, but I hope she will soon.
