Dupe Freezes Windows Mail

Windows Mail opens two identical windows and freezes. Why?
Every once in a while, when I click on Send/Receive in Windows Mail, two identical windows open (evident only when I delete the first window and the other remains) and the program freezes and will not retrieve mail. Why does this happen, and why does it happen only once a month or so?

Response by poster: FireFox is my one and only browser.
But now Windows Mail is working perfectly. Out of the blue. And I have done nothing that I am aware of on my end to change it. So maybe the problem is with my ISP. But why the duplicate windows when I click Send/Receive? And why will it happen again in a month or so?

Here is one link that I found that suggests checking your default browser:

Maybe every so often you do something online that resets your default browser options?
