How to start life-modelling in the UK?

UKfilter question: is starting life modelling the same here as it would be in the US?

Sorry for what's likely a bit of a silly question, but I've learned to double-check these things. Is it acceptable to essentially cold-contact a university in Wales about whether they need models for a life-drawing class? (I have some experience working in the States, but nothing significant, really.) Or is there another route I should go by?

(Incidentally, if anyone knows of somewhere in or around Cardiff other than UWIC that's looking for models, feel free to memail me...)

Best answer: As far as I know, yes. An ex-girlfriend of mine did some life modelling in Scotland and that's pretty much how she went about it. You might also want to go to the art department (or to art colleges) and check noticeboards/ask at offices. I doubt anyone will find it strange that you should ask.
