Where did the phrase "Get my x on" originate? I hear people say "get my drink on" and want to jump out of a window. I'd just like to know who was originally responsible. Thanks!

I can remember it as far back as Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode" (lyrics). As for when that was released, Wikipedia clearly states:

"The Next Episode" is a single by Dr. Dre released in 2000 from his album 2001, which was released in 1999.

It is probably well older than that pop culture reference by my estimation, though.

A Tribe Called Quest's Jam Lyrics features the line: "And get my drink on with that Ford named Betty". That album was released in the middle of 1996.

Guilty. I say it. I think I picked it up from Andy Bernard in The Office, aka The Nard Dog.
He says stuff like this all the time.

From Jonathon Green's Cassell's Dictionary of Slang:

get one's swerve on, to phr. [1970s] (US Black) to have sexual intercourse.

I've no idea how accurate this information is.

Early to mid 90s, according to this source.

By no means the originator, but a lot of the blame must go to Missy Elliott.

Online Etymology Dictionary says "get a move on 'hurry up' is Amer.Eng. colloquial from 1888" but doesn't cite a reference.

Also remember it from Dr. Dre, but from 1992's "Let Me Ride": "... bumpin' like a motherfucker ready to get my serve on ..."

The Mouthchew pinned it: "get my swerve on" was the bit of slang that so many have taken their own spin on.
