Looking for good websites and blogs about menopause.

It's been a few months now since I've had to use a little cotton torpedo and my internal furnace cranks up high sometimes. I'm of the right age so I guess I'm starting to go through menopause.

What is the latest thinking on post-menopausal health? What supplements could/should I be taking to make the transition smoother. What things do I need to look out for regarding my health now that my oestrogen makers are packing up and leaving home?

From what my mum has said of her experience, and the experiences I having myself, I don't think I'm going to have too rough a time. But I'd like to be prepared for the worst while expecting the best.

I really don't know all that much about this 'change of life'. So where is the good, trustworthy and interesting intel on menopause that doesn't have a strong commercial (buy this!) bias? I'm interested in reading up on the scientific, social and generic spiritual aspects of my upcoming crone-hood. Websites and info from any country/culture welcome.

Best answer: Christiane Northrup, especially The Wisdom of Menopause, will give you alot of useful information. There's a PBS lecture of some of the material, if you prefer DVD to reading.

Response by poster: Thanks goml & Rube R. Nekker. Both your answers have been very helpful. I can't access Dr Northrup's site for some reason but I will requesting that my library get in the book.
