What photograph can we reference!?

Help us come up with a clever, referential small-group photo theme!

We are the staff of academic publication for my graduate school department. Our department is in the design school, so the publication is a closer to the high-end magazine side of the spectrum than it is to law review side, appearance-wise.

The editorial/design staff is trying to think of a clever idea for our staff photo that will run in the magazine. We are three guys and three girls. The first idea presented was to reference "The Breakfast Club" in our photo, but we have an extra girl. That first idea made us want to reference something, and we also thought of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Mad Men" and, god forbid, "Friends."

We want something recognizable to the point that it is iconic. It doesn't have to be from TV. We just got stuck there. Our graduate program is in city planning, but it need not relate to that either. Something with the right number of people and the right sex ratio would be ideal.

2nding Mad Men. Impossible to go wrong with this look, and you won't cringe looking at it in 10 years.

Depending on the history of your school/department/publication, you could do a riff on "The Evolution of Man" (possibly jazzed up ala The Evolution of the Hipster) showing what people looked like through various stages of your school's history, possibly marking big events as well. If you can get some classic clothing memorabilia, even better.

Oh, and Person #6 will, of course, need to be in a silver jumpsuit with a rocket pack.

The Reservoir Dogs thing is pretty well known. Don't think it would matter too much if you had 3 women in suits.

Same goes for The Usual Suspects.
