Playing Tag? That's a lame headline.

Fastest way to listen to and tag a bunch of MP3s really quickly?

I use an Olympus LS-10 for recording my practice sessions, performances, etc. I end up with a ton of untagged mp3s and tagging them is frustrating, so I often don't end up doing it. And then just end up with a mess.

I often times record a spoken intro, like "I'm practicing such and such on such a such a date". So if I could hear the first few seconds of the track, I'd be able to tag it really quickly.

I've used MP3 tag in the past, but find it's slow to open the files and play them (I think it opens them in Itunes). Itunes tagging interface is pretty clumsy.

Is there another program that I can use that would play the track very quickly and let me tag it with a name and then quickly move on to the next track?

Thanks!

I use MediaMonkey and there is a hotkey for bringing up the ID3 properties/tagging window. You could just go through each song hitting the hotkey each time?

First, what operating system are you using?

Second, iTunes has the option to do bulk tagging (select multiple files, click on properties, go from there), and the option to save the tags on one file and go to the next (I believe there's a Next button / option at the bottom of the tagging window when you are tagging a single file). I don't know if you can easily skip to the next track while tagging files, but at least you can tag (more) quickly.

Also: there are programs which can apply ID3 tags from file names. Do you name your files things that you'd use in tags?

Response by poster: To recap: Tagscanner was the best choice, by far and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for whoever posted that!
