dried beans --> canned beans conversion
my recipe calls for 1/2 lb of dried white beans. I will be using canned beans. How many cans/ounces of canned beans do i need? thanks!

A quick Google for "dry beans cooked conversion" is how I always figure this out, except I mostly go in the other direction. This forum post breaks it down:
1 lb dry beans = 2 1/2 cups dry beans = about 7 1/2 cups cooked beans
1 cup dry beans = about 3 cups cooked beans
14 oz/398 ml can beans = about 1 1/2 cups drained beans
19 oz/540 ml can beans = about 2 cups drained beans
So 1/2 lb dry beans = 3.75 cups cooked beans = 2.5 15oz cans or a little less than two 19oz cans.
