Help Me remember this movie I saw on TV years ago.

This is a shot in the dark. About 5 years ago I half watched an old movie on cable, and something recently reminded me of it and I can't at all remember the name.
Here is what I remember:
-Set on mars.
-The main character's ship is orbiting above him but he can't call it down.
-He burns rocks in a cave to make oxygen.
-He has a little helper monkey with him.
-He discovers there plants that grow sausages or something.
-I think this may have been the same movie were he encounters alien slaver masters or something.
-I seem to remember metallic bracelets that act as hand cuffs when activated.
Anyone have any idea what I am rambling about? Much thanks to anyone who has an idea.
