What kind of fake fur is this? Bonus points for where I can find 20 yards of it cheaply.

(The fabric in question is the yellow and white fur that the small child is wearing)

I think it's "Poodle Cloth" and unfortunately I could only find it in white, for great gobs of money: eQuilter. They also have it in lime green. I only looked around for about five minutes though, I'm sure there are better deals to be found.

Looked for you on google. The best price I found there so far was still expensive. Have not seen much under $ 10.

Faux Fur or mink is what I looked for. I always get my fabrics from the local market. Cities where they celebraid Catholic carnaval or something simulair will have a wider range of costume material.

Yellow Poodle Fur price seems to be $5.99 per yard.

Your profile says you're in Los Angeles; I bet you could find this in the Fashion District downtown. The fabric prices down there are already low, and if you're buying a large quantity, you'll probably be able to negotiate an even better deal if you can find it in a smaller shop.

Response by poster: Sadly, yellow and pink poodle fur (oodles of poodles) is in fact a flat cotton print. I was suspicious and emailed one of the stores that carries it and they confirmed that it is intended to look like fur, but is in fact just cotton. The search continues. I'll try the fashion district, thanks

Have you tried looking at your local fabric store yet? It appears that is just what the mom in your photo did. I looked on the Jo-Ann site, and all I found was this. I think I've seen what you're looking for before, however. If your local store does have it, they might not have the quantity you need. If you're not in a hurry, they can order you more, and you should ask for a discount for the large order. Also, it couldn't hurt to ask at the store even if they don't have what you're looking for. They might be able to order it, or at tell you some key words to aid your search.
