I should have argued for The Red, at least then we could waltz

We have our wedding song picked out. Now we just need a dance.

The fiancee and I have decided that our first dance song will be I Will Follow You Into the Dark

Of course we picked something slow and in 4. What dance can you possibly do that's slow, in 4, and not fox trot or "middle school sway back and forth"?

I did see the thread asking about We're Going To Be Friends, but the odd rhythm structure makes me think all of those answers might not be applicable to our song.

We've got about 3 weeks until the wedding, both took a ballroom dancing class in college (although not at the same time), and both like swing although we can't pull off any of the real fancy stuff.

Nightclub two-step is perfect for lots of songs that are in 4. It's sort of a salsa-rumba fusion. It doesn't really have the right "feel" for this song, though ... the problem with Deathcab is very few of their songs are danceable. There's not enough strong phrases in this song or a downbeat, etc.

I guess you could do a tango to it but it would be sorta goofy.

(For what it's worth this song made it to the top 10 for our wedding list and we ultimately decided on a different song for the reasons I just listed.)

A rumba would work just fine

Same trick from the White Stripes thread: the rumba and the song together (mute the first video). I think it works, as long as you keep it to an "American" rumba, and don't flail about too much.
