IE8 Bugs fixed?

Did Microsoft fix IE8?
Three months ago I tried installing IE8 on my Vista Home Premium machine. This wasn't the beta; it was a full release, but it was before Microsoft put IE8 on Windows Update.
After it was installed, I noticed that it had fouled up the file explorer. When I clicked on a directory, it always was opened in a new window even though my preferences were set to "open in same window". I also noticed that in IE8 itself, if I middle-clicked a link, it would open a new tab but it didn't open up the link in that tab.
For me both of those were showstoppers, so I ended up uninstalling it. (I had to use System Restore to retreat to a restore point. Gad.) Now I see that Microsoft has put IE8 out on Windows Update, and what I want to know is if those problems got fixed. Does anyone know? And are there any other pernicious problems that have shown up with it? Having gotten screwed by it once before I don't want to install it a second time only to have to uninstall it again.
(Please note that I am not asking whether I should be using Firefox or Opera instead of IE8.)

Only problems I've seen are if you use Spybot Search and Destroy's immunize feature, sometimes IE8 pages will take a few extra seconds to load. Not had any issues like you described at all.

Response by poster: Running IE8 as administrator didn't do a thing, but the command line did the job. Thanks very much, Prinado.

IF the above doesn't help, start a command prompt as administrator and type 'regsvr32 actxprxy.dll', ENTER. That should do the trick.
