Guitar Hero 3 (Wii) filter: Can't defend Lou's whammy attack!

Can't believe I need to post this, but Lou is killing me on Easy level. Moving the whammy bar doesn't seem to do anything at all to defend the whammy attack and the meter just drains down no matter what I do - am I missing something?

I remember being frustrated with Lou as well. I think I finally beat him not by surviving his attacks, but by playing so flawlessly that I was able to attack him before he could attack me. That is to say, the best defense is a good offense - it should be possible start picking up attacks before he does, if you don't miss any notes. As soon as you grab an attack, use it.

As CCo'Do'D has said, to start winning the battles you need to get every single power gem, you can't miss any at the higher levels. Then, while hitting your notes you need to keep an eye on your opponent; when a string of his power gems come up *that's* when you need to attack!

Dunno about the whammy bar, that attack was never a problem for me. Maybe you are whammy-ing too fast?

Kind of a dumb question, but does your whammy bar work normally otherwise? e.g. when playing regular songs, do you get extra star power when you use it on the sustained star power notes? Are you using the guitar that came with Guitar Hero 3? When I mix guitars between Rock Band and Guitar Hero, the whammy bar often doesn't work unless I push it all the way down.
