Things to see or do in Milwaukee this weekend.

Im spending the weekend in Milwaukee with my SO and am looking for tourism suggestions. Other than the zoo and a museum or two we have nothing planned. I'll have a car and GPS, so I can drive around if need be. Thanks.

Ahhhh, I love that city. This metafilter question from almost two years ago is great.

Also, sidenote, I fell in love with my SO at Wolski's, so I suggest it to anyone.

If you're up for a trip over to Madison, the World's Largest Brat Fest is going on this weekend. (There's not much to it besides bratwurst, really. But people seem to like that it exists, and the event raises a bunch of money for charity.)

I stand by my comment in the thread linked above, but this weekend there's a Beer Festival in Kohler, 40 min north of Milwaukee. Be sure to check out the Kohler Design Center and The American Club. (I'm insanely biased on that last one, since it's where we got married. If nothing else, have a drink in the pub and take a walk around the grounds.)

Also, Bradford Beach opens this weekend and there's a volleyball tournament. There's also some sort of bike race.

Also also, be sure to visit the Safe House. I'd tell you where it is, but then I'd have to kill you, which makes no sense because then you couldn't go.

You might try to get out to see Ten Chimneys, the home of acting greats Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, about 20 miles outside the city in Genesee Depot. It's perfectly preserved, practically down to unemptied ashtrays, with one of the best docent-led tours I've ever been on. Plus, they have a fantastic gift shop. It's pricey, but worth every penny. Call ahead for the tour schedule, as there are no self-directed tours.
