iPhone + Prius - Bluetooth

How can I connect my iPhone to my 2005 Prius?

I've got a 2005 Prius without bluetooth, and I primarily want to play music through the car stereo, though hands free talking and stuff would be slick I guess. I know aftermarket bluetooth kits exist, but they're expensive and apparently don't work that well with the new iPhones.

I've used the FM transmitters, and the sound quality is not good enough for me. So:

Essential: high quality music through car speakers, charging

Extra: hands free talking

What are the best options?

I have a car stereo with a 1/8" aux. audio jack and hook my iPhone up that way. I forget the model of my stereo, but there's probably plenty of models with that feature.

Response by poster: Oh yeah, 2005 is the year before Prius included an external aux jack.

Have you looked here? I have seen Acura owners give them high marks.

We have the Coastal E-Tech lockpick plus a cable that goes from the back of the head unit to the plug on our iPod. You could probably do the same thing for the iPhone, only using the proper cable for it. If you give Coastal a call, they can let you know whether that will work or not with the iPhone. The lockpick opens up the aux input on the head unit.
