How can I convert flac files to mp3 in Windows?

I'm open to going through some of the more arcane procedures that I've seen around the web that involve multiple programs, but is there a single-step solution for converting from flac to mp3 under Windows?

Hi Pope,
dBpoweramp will fill your need.

Best answer: If you can be online, I highly recommend MediaConvert for this purpose and numerous others.

I use the free version of Switch. It's small and fast.

+1 for dbpoweramp, it is very simple to use and I've had no problems with it at all.

Best answer: Format Factory is another free option. It does more then audio, it also does video and images (and dvd converts).

I use MediaMonkey for both a music player and format converter.

Best answer: foobar2000, xrecode, mediamonkey, dbpoweramp, etc.

Personally, I like foobar2000 the best: easy set-up, natively reads FLAC, uses any version of the LAME mp3 encoder (get 3.98.2, the latest stable), copies all tags, can split by cuesheet, can generate short previews, can write full transcoding log.

nth dbPowerAmp. The MP3 plugin isn't free, but this can be circumvented by using the CLI plugin and LAME.EXE. Once set up (protip: LAME.EXE -V 0 [infile] [outfile]) it's a breeze.
