Where can I get Brennivin in the States? (Or online without ridiculous shipping)

I love this stuff, but don't really go to Iceland all that often (i.e. I went once). I've found online stores with high, but manageable prices -- unfortunately shipping is unbelievably expensive (shipping liquids internationally and all).

Do I have any options?

I have always heard that brennivĂn is no longer sold in the US because of some sort of weird licensing issue involving its labeling. I've heard different stories as to why it is, so it may be an urban legend in Iceland. For what it's worth I've never come across it in the US. Back when it was distributed it was called Black Death.

Best answer: I found it!

It took me some time, but you can buy it here. It's not cheap.

Best answer: Yeah, Nordic Store and other Icelandic online shopping places have it. As far as I can tell it's all at about the same price, which is just under 40 dollars for a half-liter bottle.

Response by poster: The shipping options at Nordic Store look a bit more varied and cheaper than the other places I've looked online. Thanks for the link.
