What did you do for your 17th birthday (curiosity's sake)?

Hello Metafilter,

Today's my birthday but I'm not really big on celebrating this sort of stuff (I exit womb, breathe). My brother did bring me a big cup of beautiful coffee for breakfast and I thought that was pretty special, considering our relationship is largely based on silent stolen glances. I am eating a tangerine now, and this feels pretty good.

Anyway, I always wondered what other people do or did for their birthdays. Today, particularly the 17th. So...however old you are. What did you do for you 17th birthday, please? I like collecting stories.

Thanks :D

On my 17th, I mowed the lawn, ordered a pizza, and played video games. I was never big on birthdays either.

What are you doing on the computer? Go play outside, for heaven's sake.

I invited a few of my friends over and cooked them dinner. It was a lot of fun and I would do it again.

For my 17th birthday I believe I went to see the movie "Magnolia" and then came home and ate cake with my parents and high school friends and then decorated the Christmas tree. But anyway, HAPPY FUCKIN' BIRTHDAY! You should love it! It is the only holiday that is ALL ABOUT YOU! You seem to take yourself faaaaaaar too seriously to be 17. Relax, dude. Go for a nice long walk and listen to some awesome music.
