Considering an iPhone armband

I currently have an iPhone 1G, and I'd like to get an armband for it. However, it's likely that I'll be getting a 3G (4G?) within the next six months, and I'd like to avoid having to replace it.

I'm looking at this guy and that guy.

Does anyone know if the 3G armband would fit the 1G phone snugly, or vice versa?

Thanks!

iPhone 2G and 3G are about the same size. One is slightly thicker than the other but I don't think it really matters. I'm trying it our right now and a sleeve that fits 2G fits 3G fine.

Most of those things are pretty snug as well as stretchy; I'm currently using my old iPod Touch case for my iPhone, though the Touch is significantly slimmer.

However: having a phone strapped to your arm while you're working out can be really annoying, and if you don't need the phone capabilities at the time I'd suggest getting a Shuffle instead of an armband, since it probably wouldn't cost you significantly more than a good armband. That's my plan, anyway.

I bought this product for the iPhone 3G and hated it.

The screen was difficult to see through, and any fingerprints that you got on the inside of the armband would cause the clear plastic window to stick oddly to the phone.

Plus, it was next to impossible to put into/take out of this armband easily. So difficult in fact, that you simply didn't take it in/out. The belt clip that came with was not easy to use when switching from armband to belt-clip. As such, you'd want to leave it in the arm band all the time - except that you couldn't dock it at all to charge/sync unless you either cut a hole in the mesh in the bottom, or struggled to take it out.

This was my worst purchase ever for the iPhone.

I have an iPod Touch and got myself an armband that seems to be a pretty good compromise between all the features I wanted, so I'm pretty happy with this DLO Action Jacket.

The iPod is inserted at the bottom and secured with a velcro closure, so it's easy to sync with a cable or hook it to an FM transmitter/charger without taking it out of the case. My only complaints are the velcro strap can be a pain to fiddle with when removing it from the case or installing it, the little plastic nub for the included belt clip is permanently mounted on the back of the case, which makes it a little less comfortable if you just wanted to use it to carry the iPod in your pocket with some added protection, and it's a bit harder to make your keypresses near the corners/edges of the screen register.

All those things taken into consideration, I am still pretty happy with it and like using it for workouts and stuff.
