SoCal airport shuttle?

Best way to get from LGB to hotel near SNA?

I'm flying into Long Beach airport this week and my hotel is near SNA (John Wayne Airport).

Is there a shuttle that goes between the two airports? How much should I expect to pay for a taxi or a shuttle? Any shuttles that I should especially take or avoid?

The hotel is the Atrium Hotel and they provide pickup from SNA but not from LGB as far as I can tell.

Best answer: Give Super Shuttle a try. I've taken them in the past, it cost me around $50 to ride from Irvine (around SNA) to LAX. Only downside is that its a shared shuttle, so they might make a bunch of stops to pickup/drop off the other passengers.

Here's a list of shuttles that service Long Beach. You could call around and get some quotes.

According to the car rental/cab page its a $55 flat fee to take a taxi to SNA.

Best answer: The Atrium Hotel is very close to SNA (across the street, I believe) but it is still about a 30-40 min. drive from Long Beach (maybe more in traffic).

Unfortunately, the LB metro system doesn't sync up with the Orange County one, so there isn't any easy way to take public transportation from one place to the other. You basically have to go from Long Beach to Union Station in LA, then turn around and take it back to Santa Ana. But if you have time, you can save money and do this (also see some nearby sites in LA while you're at it!).

There is a bus that runs from LGB airport to the Willow St. station (blue line metro rail), where you could catch the train to the 7th street metro station and transfer to the red or purple train line (both end up at Union Station - check times at the station) and ride to Union Station. The bus and train fare would be $2.65. [approx. 1 hour total travel time]

From Union Station you can catch the Orange County metrolink train to Santa Ana station (closest to SNA) for $6.50. [approx. 50 mins total travel time] There are buses that pick up at the station that will cost another $4 or so to get where you're going, or your hotel might just pick you up at the train station. The Santa Ana station is about 7 miles from your hotel, so you might be able to grab an inexpensive taxi as well.

In total, you'll spend about 2 hours and $9.15 per person to use public transportation, but if you're worried about budget, it's at least an option. :)

Another option, if cost isn't a huge factor is to rent a car with pick-up at LGB and drop off at SNA. Both airports have rental car sections with several common vendors (Hertz, etc.) and you can usually get a one-day rental for ~$20-$25. That might be worth it just to save you the shuttle costs. Plus, once you're at the Atrium, there isn't much that is nearby. It's just the airport and business high rise buildings. So if you want to see the sights or the beaches, you'll want a car.

Response by poster: Thanks to both of you for all the info!
I booked SuperShuttle for $41.

Yeah I know the hotel is kind of bleak in terms of area, but I'll just be going from there to a conference and back, so not much time for fun anyway!
