Hello and welcome to QI, these are my whimsical cufflinks!

I'm a big guy and I'd like to get a dress shirt with French cuffs. Are there great online sellers for shirts like this, or perhaps you know of a better brick and mortar shop around Maryland/Washington, D.C. that can help me out?

The local big guy store's French cuff selection is limited to Italian Mobster chic (striped lavender), while I'm going for more of a Stephen Fry look – a cream or white shirt to go with my dark gray corduroy jacket. I'd like it to be long, too, so it stays tucked into my pants without fuss.

No pressing deadline or budget, so maybe that opens up custom-made shirts from a tailor? Fit and comfort are much more important than style or formality, for this shirt.

Measurements, in case that's helpful:
20 neck, 36 sleeve, 60 chest

You should call Brooks Brothers, who can special order you a shirt and you can pick it up in a day or two. They are very good and have a great selection.

You can find several at Land's End or even have one custom made. There!

Give Thomas Pink a try. I believe they also do custom orders. There is a bricks and mortar branch in DC right by the Mayflower Hotel (Connecticut Ave between M and L).

Brooks Brothers is pretty money. There's a location in DC on Connecticut Ave between Dupont and Farragut.

I had an awesome shirt with french cuffs custom tailored for me at Nordstrom. I can't find any information on it on their web site, but it was quite easy to do. They took my measurements and I was able to pick the fabric, cuff style, placket, etc. The actual shirt was made by Robert Talbott in Carmel Valley. It took a few weeks, but the shirt turned out fantastic and it always gets compliments when I wear it.

Conveniently they are a block from each other with a Burberry in between. (I do not recommend Burberry.) Hop on the Red Line to Farragut North then walk towards DuPont.
