Houma, LA. Where to eat, what to do?

My wife will be in Houma for a brief business tip from 2/26 - 2/28/09. Any dining suggestions or anything else to recommend in Houma? Thank you!

Best answer: My aunt's house?

Actually, your wife will be missing Mardi Gras by a day or two. Bummer, Houma has a great Mardi Gras) What to do in Houma? Fish, hunt, BS with the locals, eat - all at the same time if possible.

Food there is pretty awesome if you like cajun / seafood. There's a lot of small restaurants that are cheap and fantastic. Lots of people like Boudreau & Thibodeau's Cajun, but I don't like their fried stuff.

Best answer: A business trip to Houma? Interesting location!

I don't know a ton about the area, but if she wants to find "real" local food she will probably have to go off the beaten path a little bit. MLK Blvd, which is the main drag, is almost exclusively chain stores and restaurants. That said, Copeland's is a small well-known local chain that has fantastic Cajun-American food.

Response by poster: 3 for 3! Thanks everyone - the phonepic sent last night from Copeland's was tantalizing, and by all reports everyone there is quite nice, there is little road signage, and the food is plentiful, flavorful and cheap.
