Choosing workplace benefits..

Choosing benefits (medical/dental/vision) for a new contract position, any good resources/guides to read?

I'm going to be starting a contract position, and need to buy my own benefits. (They only supply paid holidays).

How do I know what they're offering is a good value, and are there any good guides to follow on which plan to pick (IE input current age, health, etc)? This would be for my wife and I.

Also, are there alternatives to what the contracting firms offer?

Your dental needs are generally quite predictable. You can ask your dentist how much work you will likely need, maybe get an estimate of the cost, and check the level of coverage offered by the plan, which should give you an idea of whether it's worth it or not.
