Headset configuration for Socom: Confrontation?

Looking for headphones (and/or configuration ideas) for PS3 (Socom: Confrontation, specifically) that will allow me to both listen to audio AND chat with other players

I find myself stuck between two options while playing Socom:

1) Use a headset or bluetooth to communicate with other players, while game sound plays out through the TV to the annoyance of my neighbors (paper thin walls, what can I say?).

or

2) Wearing headphones to blast the audio from the game, but not able to also wear a headset to chat at the same time (for obvious reasons).

I'd like to think there's a viable option out there, a stereo headset with microphone that can easily handle both... any suggestions?

Best answer: My son has a universal headset/microphone combo that allows game sound AND chat to come through. He bought it at a garage sale and it looks pretty generic (doesn't even have a brand name visible anywhere), so I'm pretty sure there are plenty of others that fit your description... I googled and found this site (scroll down for the one that says "Voice Chat and Game Audio for the PlayStation 3").

My first bit of advice would be to not play SOCOM: Confrontation, because I loathed that game. But if there's no stopping you, I'll tell you what I did to not bother my wife while playing World of Warcraft.

You get a very slim earpiece for chatting, and a large, over-ear set of headphones for sound, and you wear both.

If you find a unit that does both at the same time, do that. But if you have to double-stuff, I found it works pretty well. (But keep in mind I was using a Sony telephone earpiece that is really thin. It also has a long, flexible boom mic that reaches clear of the headphones.)

Now, you'll only have to apologize to your neighbors every time you scream "Why do I need two different zoom buttons? Switch to the damn grenades already!!!"
