Friday nights in Tucson

So I'm going out tomorrow night and I need some help with suggestions for what to do on a late Friday night in Tucson.

So my date for tomorrow just called and said that she has to work tomorrow and won't be ready to go out until 8pm which means that our current plan to see an indie film are out. I've lived in Tucson for a year but haven't had much of a social life so I don't know what's cool to do in Tucson, though I know there has to be a ton of stuff. I'm looking for some where nice to eat and then something to do/see/watch/listen to afterwards. General date ideas for Tucson wouldn't be bad either for future use.

Related info: Both of us are early twenties, I have a car, we're close to downtown, she's vegetarian.

Best answer: Take her to The Cup for dinner, then drinks/dancing across the lobby at Club Congress and/or up and down Congress St. There are a few hole-in-the-wall indie venues around downtown, if you're interested in catching a live musical act.
Casa Libre Benefit (a non-profit community resource center and inn for writers) at Club Congress.
Beppe Gambetta is playing at Solar Culture
American Android is playing at Plush. The walk under the railroad tracks (is that still open?) and down 4th Ave. is a nice walk from Congress.
First Friday Shorts is on at 9pm at The Loft. Hosted by Max Cannon. You could go see that, then go somewhere to eat late-nite style. Like Grill.

I miss gamboling around downtown late on the weekends. Have fun!

Oops, I take back my recommendation for Grill. They have a sort of prickly attitude towards vegetarians on their menu, saying "Bacon adds flavor."

For restaurants, try the Garland Bistro or the Blue Willow. Both are nice and homey, and vegetarian friendly. Although they close at nine.

Also, Blue Willow has great breakfasts, so if it's a late night, try there the next day.

drive to phoenix? :)

I spent some time with friends down there and we went to the shanty on 9th, which was nice and laid back. Don't have any recommendations for dinner though, sorry. what about Eegee's? (I kid, I kid)
