Family Owned Business Statistics

I am doing a dissertation on family business succession planning, I am looking for good statistics on the numbers and importance of family businesses globally and in the UK.

The sorts of statistics I am looking for are:

Percentage of all businesses that are family owned in the world, us and UK.

Percentage of family businesses that are in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation.

Propotion of people employed by family businesses.

All must be good sources, i.e. government/federal departments, peer reviewed research, etc.

Thanks

You did search the Economist database of articles? Usually there is always an article or two about family businesses and multi-generational transfers every few weeks. But the best source, is your university's business school research librarian who, I am sure, will tell you exactly where to get those stats like the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Heck, consulting databases as well.
