Lynden, WA to Burnaby, BC shortcut?

Is there a shortcut from Lynden, WA to Burnaby, BC via Hwy 0?
Some border crossing agent told my Mother that a good shortcut from the Aldergrove/Lynden border entry to Burnaby, BC would be taking Hwy 0. I see Hwy 0 on Google maps (barely) and was told it's just a small "country" road exactly along the border. According to Google maps, it would make my commute longer than Hwy 1, assuming I cut across just before the Truck border. Does anyone know of this shortcut, and is there some trick I don't see to make the commute shorter? Or should I just stick with Hwy 1 this weekend?

I've never driven anywhere near there before, but I can't see how it could possibly be faster than going to Hwy 1. Hwy 1 is a multi-lane freeway with a speed limit of 100km/h. On country roads, not only is the speed limit slower but there will be traffic lights, stop signs, cross traffic, etc.
Perhaps the intent is to get you over to Hwy 99 and/or 91, which would conceivably be faster if you were going to southwestern places like Richmond or Delta (like this). But Hwy 1 slices right through the heart of Burnaby. I can think of no reason to avoid it.

Highway 0? Do you mean 0 avenue? You can take that but it is a slow truck route that runs along the border. She will still have to come north west from Lynden/Huntington. Usually the waits to come north at the truck crossing are not that bad depending on the time of day but listen to the radio. The truck border is at 176th street and goes straight to Highway 1 and into Burnaby. This is the route I take 90% of the time but listen for those border times. Any more info I can help with, just contact me.

0 Ave on the US side has been empty (*empty*) of traffic each time I used it. But since it is a small road, Google maps might not accord it the possibility of traveling as fast as you actually can. I would prefer it (and the dogleg) over 1A in BC, which can be a bear.

I cannot see how taking 0 Ave would possibly be faster. If you cross the border (or not, there's a US one as well I believe), and turn left on 0 Ave, you won't hit a highway until you get to Highway 99 near White Rock. From there, the fastest way to Burnaby is to take 99 until you cross King George Highway (which is nothing of the sort any more, being urbanized with lots of traffic lights once you go north from 99), and then across the Patullo bridge to New West, then on to Burnaby. But that takes forever. I used to live in Burnaby, and if I was getting home from Lynden, I would get to Highway 1 as fast as I could and ride that all the way to Burnaby. It's the quickest, and also the easiest.
