Since everyone else is doing it.
[Bookfilter] Fantasy book (or perhaps trilogy), It may have been classed as young adult (I found it in a middle school library). Main character is a member of the ruling class who are distinguished by their violet eyes. Main character goes on your standard fantasy book quest.
Can anyone remember seeing this?

Could it have been the Elric of Melniboné books by Michael Moorcock? Sounds similar.

Does he have to fight a flaming skull as the main bad guy?

If so, it sounds familiar. But the name escapes me completely.

It's not Dune is it? The ruling class didn't have violet eyes, but the Freman had super Blue eyes. Paul (the hero) is a member of the ruling class and ultimately develops blue eyes from hanging out with the Freman.

I was thinking Dune also. It's close.

Response by poster: Thanks all, but no. I'm actually a little hurt that you thought I might forget Dune. (The blue color is caused by the Spice, isn't it?)

This Elric fellow sounds pretty unlikeable.
