Friday Night Karaoke in Seattle

I am on vacation in Seattle, and my friends and I would like to go to karaoke tonight? Where is there Friday night karaoke in Seattle? And as you're mentioning places, can you describe the scene a little?

What kind of scene are you looking for?

Response by poster: A karaoke one! Preferably an open bar situation, not rentable individual rooms. Happy with a dive bar, a gay bar, really anything, but I'd be interested in knowing what I'm selecting. Preferably not so crowded that we don't get to sing.

I always love the karaoke bar that's inside Sunset Bowl. Their contest is on Sunday nights, but karaoke for fun happens there most every night I've been by.

are you downtown, or have a car to get out into a neighborhood?

There is ALWAYS karaoke at the Crescent, 7 nights a week: 1413 E Olive Way Seattle, WA 98122. It's on Capitol Hill, and that's a great nightlife center. It's a divey-gay bar, with drag queen karaoke hosts, and theme nights (who knows what tonight's will be?). And yours truly will be there tonight, with a posse. Always willing to meet fellow mefites, ya know? Also, think about a cab. The drinks are STIFF, the staff is PUNK, and the people are PRETTY.

The Beacon Pub has Friday night karaoke. It's pretty much a dive bar, and the karaoke night has as complete a cross-section of humanity as I've seen in a bar.

Mattoly - I might see you there! I've only ever done karaoke twice, and once was at the Crescent. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Hmm. MeFi meetup at the Beacon Pub? I can almost see the place from here. It would be convenient. :)

I actually haven't been there yet because it used to be so damned smoky that I couldn't even go in, but with luck they're obeying the new smoking law and I can go there now.

I go to Kona Kitchen, which has pretty good karaoke and great Hawaiian food, and as an super trivia bonus is run by the dude who played (among countless other things) the bad guy in Karate Kid II and the Howard Cosell-speaking guy in Better Off Dead.

It's not hip like Capitol Hill, but on the other hand you can actually find a place to park. It has the occasional serious singer, but mostly it's drunk and goofy.

I like litlnemo's idea. When was the last (or has there ever been) Seattle MeFi meet-up?

Tristeza: Yah, I'll be at the Crescent for sure. I'll be the tall indie-punk looking guy in glasses with dark hair! (I know, I know...)

Ok, actually I look something like this:

Response by poster: Beacon Pub it is. We look like this:

Hell, we might even still be wearing these clothes! So what time?

Oh my. Despite suggesting it, I don't know for sure if I'd actually be able to go tonight. (I was more thinking of some future date when we could plan in advance to go.) So I'd say, show up there anytime, and if any of us are in the neighborhood, we might drop in. And maybe there will be a mini-meetup even if I can't make it.

I'm kind of curious about who Pitchblende is since we're obviously neighbors. :)

Response by poster: You should come! I'm on vacation now, and since I live in Boston, I can't really come another week. But anyway, we'll be there. Anne (in the green jacket) lives here, so you'd meet her at least.
