men's sweatpants/joggers with no drawstring

I need to buy men's sweatpants or joggers with an elastic waist without a drawstring with a waist size of 32.

Because of the degradation of Google and Amazon searches, trying to search for things with no drawstring has become impossible--including the word drawstring anywhere in the search makes them search for things with a drawstring. In this case, I mean absolutely no drawstring. The person I'm searching for is of the shorter leg persuasion, so ankle cuffs are nicer for him than cuffless. These will be worn in public, so more like thicker pants and less like thin, clingy pajamas is preferred. Aiming for the inexpensive end of the scale (these are after all frickin sweatpants) but at this point links to anything at all that meet this description would be helpful. Thanks!

You can shop directly at Hanes and they have a variety without drawstrings. Joggers are not really sold in waist sizes though? 32 is a men's small.

I've found the Amazon Essentials sweatpants to be acceptable quality and weight and they have several options without drawstrings:

these are the kind I have personal experience with but they have no elastic at ankles

these appear to be the same but with elastic at ankles

joggers

Lands End has a couple of styles that may meet the need.

Response by poster: The Amazon Essentials and Lands End ones all have drawstrings. An "internal adjustable drawcord" is still a drawstring. I need pants that have absolutely no drawstring whatsoever.

Is removing the drawstring an option for you?

Response by poster: Most drawstring styles are the primary support for the pants, and they will not stay up if it is removed. Pants exist without drawstrings--a couple of the Haines styles DarlingBri linked to seem like they will work.

If you are not familiar with the sort of life circumstances where "absolutely no drawstrings" is a requirement, you are lucky. Suffice it to say: I need help. I need these soon. This is not a negotiation. I would really appreciate folks just linking to what I asked for.

Whoops, sorry! I owned those sweatpants for a year and never noticed the drawcord (or maybe they've been redesigned). I'd be willing to bet that it's removable but hopefully one of the other options will work for you.

When I had an injury where I had only one functional hand for a number of weeks, I often wore my wife's medical scrubs pants. None of hers had drawstrings, and I think that's the case with scrubs pants in general.

(I also found a one-handed belt like these Myself Belts helpful if I wanted to wear my normal pants)

Response by poster: Nevermind. I read the reviews for the this pair on the Hanes site that seemed like they might not have drawstrings, and the reviews make it clear that they do.

At this point, if you can find women's sweatpants with a 32 inch waist without a drawstring that do not have ridiculous "feminine" touches like all the Hanes ones seem to have, I would be open to that as well.

If you search for yoga waistband jogger on Amazon there are tons of options - “yoga waistband” means a flat stretchy leggings-like waistband. Most of them don’t have drawstrings, though you’ll want to check for hidden drawstrings. Most or all are “women’s” but there are plenty of plain black ones with no detailing that looks feminine.

These were the top hit for my search and don’t appear to have any drawstring, hidden or otherwise. I’d probably try an XL for a 32” waist, but the waist is stretchy so it just depends on how fitted/baggy is preferred.

Note that if you search for yoga waistband jogger men’s virtually all of the options do have a drawstring

Best answer: Silvert This website has a lot of custom simple design pant styles with elastic waists that don't have drawstrings.

I think I own some variation on the Hanes ones you linked. There's a drawstring, but it's actually not useful. Why do I know this? It has actually escaped inside my pair and they stay up just fine. If you can find some in person (mine cost $6 at Target a zillion years ago), it might be worth inspecting for modification purposes, assuming the hole for the drawstring is not part of your drawstring issue.

I also have some UnderArmor sweatpants that are not relying on their drawstring to stay up (because I don't bother tying it unless I'm wearing them running). Again if you can get to a store, you really may find something modifiable -- I generally find drawstrings are not actually functional--there's elastic that actually keeps them up.

Best answer: NO DRAWSTRING DESIGN, elastic-waist sweatpants, by Charm-Tex, in multiple colors. Men's Fleece Sweatpants, Elastic Waist, No Drawstring, No Pockets, at Anchortex. Bob Barker Company Sweatpants, Elastic Waist/No Pocket style (vs. the other two styles sold, explicitly with drawstrings).

[hydropsyche, I apologize -- these are prison-supply companies. Suppliers serving long-term inpatient needs might be another lead for specific drawstring product information. Adaptable-clothing companies had conflicting information in written descriptions vs. video guides to garments (examples at Buck & Buck); perhaps customer service could clarify. Side-zipper sweatpants, no drawstrings. Best wishes.]

Response by poster: Thanks for trying, y'all. In the meantime, I found that you can do some filtering on Amazon. Choosing Closure Type: Pull Up at least filtered out the ones that said Closure Type: Drawstring. Then I just scrolled though pictures until I found some that looked like they did not have a drawstring until I finally found these utcoco Linen Pants Men Casual Relaxed Fit Summer Beach Jogger Yoga Pants which look like they will work.

For anyone coming here with the same need, Iris Gambol's prison supply company pairs look like they would work, although they're lacking in reviews for obvious reasons. I browsed through a few adaptive clothing companies, and I agree that the Buck & Buck basic sweatpants look likely to be good, and they seem to have good customer service. If this need persists, and the Amazon ones suck, I'll probably call them next.

If he doesn't require a fly--and is OK wearing something intended for women-- Lands End sport knits should fit the bill.

Youth sweatpants might work, contingent on weight and frame? "Elasticized waistband" on $12 Hanes Boys' EcoSmart Mid-Weight Joggers, with ribbed ankle cuffs (Amazon has size XXL= 32.5" waist, in gray and black); "most helpful" review at the company website notes: "I like that they do not have a draw string at the waist." For the open-cuff version, Amazon lists elastic waist *and* drawstring closure, but at the company site (where size 2XL is in stock), there's a review with "The relaxed cuffs and lack of drawstring are a big plus".

(Youth apparel size charts vary; for Russell Athletics & Fruit of the Loom Boys' joggers and sweatpants, 2XL= 31" waist.)
