Where is a good place to get swanky or custom cowboy boots in Manhattan / NY area? Could be a prop or costume house as well.
Try Whiskey Dust down in the West Village. They always had cool boots in the window when I walked by.
(The Internet is amazing. All I could remember about this store was that it was across the street from the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. That map thing on Amazon that gives you street-level views of New York helped me find the store and figure out what it was called. Neat.)

Whiskey Dust is the best I know of in Manhattan, but there is a place in, um, Paramus, New Jersey (sorry) called Globe's Western Boot World. Huge selection, some really nice boots. Luccheses et al. which will run you upwards of $200-300. You can google the address. I doubt you can get there easily without a car, and even then it's a hassle due to traffic.
Oh, just remembered: That "shoe district" stretch of W. 8th Street bet. 6th and 7th Aves. has, or had last year, a few shoe stores that have a decent selection of boots. But not what I'd call swanky and most likely not custom.
